How to extend your passport!

Hope you all might notice how to extend your passport if you are in abroad. And i am sure you know how to deal with Burmese staff at Embassy. I won't say what to do with them but go and see.

Here is just to share only some process in Bangkok since i can not mention everything in detail. I wish i could show you some photos of the staff and people around there. How they deal with their own people, how can you solve your problems in short cut way, how to smile with them and etc...

There are some people like you and can make friend to share some info. But there also some people that you have to avoid... :P Otherwise, make sure that you have enough money. :)

But no worry much! If you are a student, make sure that you bring "Student Certificate" from your University. When you arrive at Embassy, just go straight to office counter and ask Passport extention form. Be nice!...

Fill out quickly as it's not so completed and better submit before lunch (Noon). Otherwise, it may take to another day. Make sure that you submit application form with one photo (passport size) and attach "Student Certificate".

Officer will check your application for a while and say "Ok" if you don't have any special case OR problem, and ask you to wait for a while and he will call your name. But be ready to go out for lunch! Otherwise, you will miss your lunch for that day... :P If you can submit early, it may be another story to get before lunch. But very less assure!

Don't forget to move around in front of counter and show your face to officer. Otherwise, you may be forgotten. You may also ask at least once but not often!
If you are with work permit visa, then pay first all taxes. No way to do without this. Officer will stamp for another 3 yrs and cost 4,000 Baht. To change new passport book, it cost 10,000 Baht to one of my friends.

Hi,
Good post for everyone but the cost of getting a new passport book is 12,000 Baht now with no bargain. To do this, you have to first copy all pages of your old passport book (whether used or unused), include your student certificate with 8 photos and submit with the form that the officer asks to fill. It takes one week to get it. After that you have to take your new book to the school or company that helps you get visa to change your visa papers from old to new book. Return your old book to the embassy only after you get your visa moved to your new book. Make sure you do not have to pay any tax if you are a student. Some officers there might ask you to pay. Try to argue them. Remember there will be different policies in each year. That's why it is advised to visit the embassy and inquire. Myanmar embassy is the ONLY embassy in this world will give you the answers over the phone. They will shout and scold you if you happen to ask for some information. I mean this happens to me because I am from Loikaw? Maybe I do not speak Burmese fluently?
Good luck.
